The Skinny on Fat

By Dr. Don

What comes to mind when you hear the word fat? For too many people, fat is that roll of extra blubber around their mid-section that makes them feel ugly, destroys their health, and shortens their lives.

Your body builds fat tissue for three reasons: One, fat is insulation. Like that fluffy stuff in the walls of your home, it keeps you warm. Two, fat cushions you—before man invented LazyBoy, God gave us extra padding on the behind. Three, fat stores energy.

Why are people fat? They have an energy crisis. They aren’t running out of fuel. They are sitting on it.

That’s why exercise is so important—it burns up that stored energy.

Another difference between fat and the fuel you use to run your car is that fat is alive. To keep it that way, your body has to build hundreds of extra miles of blood veins and vessels to deliver nutrients and oxygen and take away cellular wastes.

This is why extra fat is so unhealthy. The extra miles of vessels and veins mean your heart has to work harder. This wears the heart muscle down. The extra miles of vessels and veins mean that, even when it’s working as hard as it can, your heart may not be able to get the blood through your system efficiently. This causes dangerously high blood pressure.

Another danger of too much fat is that it is much harder to exercise. You have more weight to carry around, and you tire out faster. The extra weight takes its toll on your back and joints, making many exercises painful. And, if you feel fat you may be embarrassed to exercise with others. When you exercise alone, it’s harder to stay motivated.

How did the world get so fat? Well, it’s not as simple as overeating. Our industrially processed foods contain substances that our bodies don’t quite know how to handle. So, like a tidy mother expecting company, our body puts them away, storing them as fat. Two culprits that come easily to mind are high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils.

In addition, when we rely on the standard diet we don’t get the whole food nutrition that our bodies need to efficiently use up our energy stores.

Your first step to weight loss is eating more—more nutritious foods like fresh, raw organic fruits and vegetables, 100% whole grains, fish and lean meats from grass-fed animals. Don’t forget to supplement with some extra nutrients like those found in It Works It’s Essential weight loss energy bar. You see, unless you’re growing your own food and cooking it all from scratch, some nutrient loss is going to occur during shipping and preparation.

When you begin eating what you should eat, you’ll have less room—and fewer cravings—for what you shouldn’t. You’ll even start feeling better—and feeling up to exercise.

Take the first step on the path to a healthy long life today. Clear the junk out of your pantry and replace it with healthy whole foods, including a supply of It’s Essential™ weight loss energy bars.
