By It Works Global Director of Marketing Pam Sowder
Below are a few paragraphs from the book "Making the First Circle Work" by Randy Gage. I would like to start this blog by having you read these paragraphs:
"I remember complaining to my sponsor about my team one day. Most of my people seemed to be lazy, never brought guests to the meetings, and just wanted to wait around for their own group to make them rich. I wondered why they couldn’t be more like me.
Unfortunately, that was the problem. They were.
And that is the fascinating thing about this wonderful and amazing, yet crazy and frustrating business we call Network Marketing. Because everything we do goes back to the first circle—the one that says “You” in it.
The bonus check you receive every month has your name on it, no one else’s. Once you accept that, you’re ready to create success."
Are you ready to create success? If you have not yet listened to my weekly “Show Me the Money” call from December 13, you need to! I interviewed Char Kohner, who recently achieved Triple Diamond. Char is a true leader and she has the first circle down. Char told us that every morning she would wake up and be out the door by 7:30am with her It Works shirt on and her Applicator Brochures in hand. She went out there and simply started talking to people—asking if they had heard of It Works, or tried the Applicator. Yes, that takes guts and determination. But, heck, look at her now! Both Char and her husband, Tim, are now stay-at-home parents because of It Works—not bad for 15 months of work. That’s right, work. She utilized her upline, Joy (who she thanks many times), who gave her guidance, mentoring, and coaching. Char now reaches down into her team, whom she refers to as her “girls,” and helps them grow and succeed in their business. She leads—no complaints, just hard work. She is a silent storm. I met Char for the first time this summer and within moments I could see “it” in her eyes—that steely determination of a winner. Did she always have it? In a word: no. Listen to the call to hear her journey with It Works.
So what does it take to get to where Char is? Work, never quitting, never whining, doing it wrong and then correcting yourself, visualizing, believing in yourself and most of all, knowing that you are a winner. This takes “true grit”. Do you have it? I believe you do; you wouldn’t have signed up if you didn’t. Something in your life led you to It Works. Take the time to learn this business. Reach out to your upline. If they don’t give you the support you need, don’t use that as an excuse—it will only feed you full of negativity. When I first started networking, my sponsor lived two hours away. He helped me out with one meeting, and that was it. After that, I was on my own. Looking back, that was the best thing he could have done. I had to do it if I wanted to succeed—it was all in my hands. I decided in January of 1995 that no matter what, I was going to succeed at this business. I didn’t know how, but I did know why: to continue to stay at home with my two children. So, I got to work. When I did something that didn’t work, I would stop and correct myself. I always kept it fun and I constantly visualized what my business would bring me. Eventually, I was led to the Ultimate Body Applicator and It Works was born. Just think, if I had quit, given up, or stopped trying, we wouldn’t even have a company! Wow!
I’ve heard several times that if you stick with one networking company for 10 years and build that business, you will become a millionaire. Mastery of sports, music, and business requires effort (difficult, painful, excruciating, all-consuming effort) over a long time (not a week or a month, but a decade). Where will you be in 10 years? Imagine where It Works could take you in 10 years!
Don’t worry about figuring it all out right away. There is no “figuring out” or big secret—just hard work. Start wrapping people, have Wrap Parties, laugh along the way, and dream big! And what the heck, before you know it, I will be interviewing you and your team on my Monday night call!
What you believe shapes what you achieve,
Pam
