Water!

By Dr. Don VerHulst

Good health starts with a five-letter word: W-A-T-E-R. Did you know that your body is comprised mostly of water? Between 65 and 70 percent of your body is water; your brain is more than 80 percent water, your blood is more than 90 percent water! Since your blood is mostly water and “the life of the flesh is in the blood” (Leviticus 17:11), that means you need water, water, and more water to be healthy.

You lose approximately ten cups of water each day from breathing, urinating, and sweating, so you need to drink ten cups just to break even and replenish yourself. Yet few people drink the “break even” amount—in fact most people drink much less.

Do you often feel fatigued, irritable, depressed, confused, or beset by intense food cravings? You may be dehydrated. Dehydration creates a multitude of physical problems and allows illness and disease to take hold.

Half of the health equation is detoxification (the other half is balancing the immune system). Water is the ultimate detoxifier. An increase of only five glasses a day may cut the risk of colon cancer by 45 percent, bladder cancer by 50 percent, and breast cancer by 79 percent. Cancer can only develop in an acidic environment, and guess what dehydration does? It causes your body to be acidic. Many of us live right on the edge of acidity—a real risk to our health. The more water we drink, the more balanced our pH levels will be.

Water also acts as a powerful cleanser to clean the plaque from artery walls, and it is instrumental in stabilizing blood pressure. Water lubricates the joints to prevent arthritis, and it diminishes headaches. Dehydration can cause all kinds of painful symptoms, but water can decrease them all—or even make them disappear. Here’s another health equation:

What's another way you can help your body detoxify? It Works offers The Ultimate Body Applicator, a non-woven cloth wrap infused with a powerful, botanically-based formula that helps you detoxify from the outside-in while tightening, toning, and firming the skin.
