This is my WHY

By: Ambassador Diamond, Kami Dempsey

When I was in high school I was such a competitor; not competitive against others but against myself!  I wanted to do the best I could with my gifts, specific abilities, and talents.  Both academically and athletically  I was very driven to be the best I could be.  As I have reached “adulthood,” started a family, and grown a business, I have the same mentality.  When I was coaching I’d always challenge my team to “LEAVE IT ALL ON THE TABLE.”  What I really meant was, “Give it all you got!  Don’t leave this game tonight with any regrets of doing more.”  At the end of the day that is all you can do.  And in doing so you’ll feel good about your performance and contribution.  We chose to name our business, Col 3:23:

New Living Translation (NLT)
23 “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. 24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward…”

New International Version (NIV)
23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

It is my challenge this year to live in such a way that I have no regrets in 2012. Having no regrets doesn’t mean that I was perfect, that I didn’t make mistakes, or that I was successful in everything I attempted, but it does mean that I TRIED. I’ve heard this described previously as “failing forward.”  I hear so often how bad it is out there.  How the world is crumbling. That there are no jobs, no money, etc…  I really feel in my gut this is a reactive stance and a victim mindset.  Things are tough but there is still so much opportunity available to those who TRULY want to make a difference or make a change!  I want to leave the kind of legacy that Beyonce professes in her recent single, “I Was Here.”

“I was here,
I lived, I loved
I was here
I did, I’ve done, everything that I wanted
and it was more than I thought it would be
I will leave my mark so everyone will know
I was here!”

We all have fears, anxiety, etc… but ultimately,
“I want to say I lived each day, until I die
And know that I meant something in, somebody’s life” (my kids, family, business, etc…)
“The hearts I have touched, will be the proof that I leave
That I made a difference…”

This is my WHY.  This is what drives me to be the BEST I can be! What is your WHY?

Kami,
Im reading this a little late, but God's timing is perfect! Thank you, I needed to see this today! This was always a verse I told to my girls as they were growing up. I guess I needed to hear this as I'm growing up in it works.

Blessings,
Debbie

Hi Kami,
This blog post was written on my birthday, so it caught my attention. I didnt discover it until today, but God's timing is perfect! I had been going thru a difficult time, and your message inspired and motivated me and reminded me of the scripture ... New Living Translation (NLT)
23 “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. 24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward…”

Thanks for sharing this with us, and for reminding me that I am on a mission. I WAS HERE!
