"Oh, By the Way.."

By: Director of Sales, Mike Potillo

Have you ever been frustrated, confused, or didn’t have a clue what you were doing in this business? Join the club! All of us get to that point where we feel we have used up our contacts.

When we feel this happens, we aren’t sure what to do. Pretty soon, frustration turns into something worse, that four letter “F” word that is never spoken publicly: F-E-A-R (False-Evidence- Appearing-Real). Perceived fear can hold us back from greatness. It can stop us from talking to some of the best, highly credible people who could truly rock this business.
Let’s establish some truths up front about fear:
1. Fear is a traitor. It will trick you into believing things that are simply not true.
2. Fear of loss is the #1 motivator. It is very powerful.
3. Over 95% of things we fear NEVER COME TRUE!

Now that we know that most everything we fear never happens, let’s look at a simple, 100% eliminator of fear. I call it the “Oh, by the way” method. It eliminates your fear and even puts the person at ease who may be thinking that you are going to try to sell them something. It’s a win-win for everyone.

The “Oh, by the way” method is perfect when you feel intimidated to talk to someone. This method also works when you are busy and don’t have time to go into details about
It Works!. It even works when your kids are screaming in line at the grocery store, but you spot that person who has eluded you for months and you know you must get them a Blitz Card.

A Blitz Card is the best tool to use in these situations. They’re inexpensive and informative.
Here is an example of how the method works. You are at the grocery store or your favorite restaurant and see a local business leader. This is the person who knows just about everybody there is to know in your community, and you would love to get your It Works! information into their hands, but you are scared they may say “no,” and you would hate to be embarrassed and rejected.

The “Oh, by the way” method is perfect when you feel intimidated to talk to someone.

Take a deep breath and let’s approach this professionally, in a way that helps you keep your cool and makes you look really, really good. First walk over and say hello. Once the chit chat is over, start to walk off…then STOP and say “Oh, by the way”, Success from Home magazine just did a story on my product, and we are expanding into the area. If you know anyone who would be interested in this product, please pass this coupon on to them.” Hand them a Blitz Card and walk away.

One of two things generally happens at this point:
1. They take the card and wish you well and that’s the end of it. You leave without fear, and they feel great because they didn’t feel like you pitched them personally. Smart people remember things, and they will pass it on or call you in the future.
2. More often than not, they stop you and start saying things like, “What is this?”, “I want one,” “I know all kinds of people who would love this!”, etc.

Now, don’t get dollar signs in your eyes and try to answer their questions all at once. Get their contact details, set an appointment, or get them to a wrap party. Their questions will be answered better at a party or privately when you can take them through the IT Catalog.
Now that you have a fail-proof, fear-proof way of reaching out to prospects, go out and use this method each and every day to
