Start Singing A New Song

Dr. Don VerHulst has some tips to help you stay healthy all summer long

Beach weather is here at last. When you get ready for a day in the sun do you feel like “June is busting out all over?” It’s a rare person who doesn’t these days. Between the super slim models of perfection we see on our TV screens and the hyper-fattening foods that are part and parcel of the standard American diet it’s hard to maintain ideal weight, let alone a healthy body image.
First of all, let me say that no matter what your shape or size, God loves you. So, follow His example and love yourself. God is also a compassionate God. Have compassion on yourself and stop with self-blame and guilt trips. Living a healthy lifestyle these days almost takes a miracle. Most of us have jobs that require us to spend our days sitting in a chair. So, we do not engage in the physical activity our bodies require. We are kept so busy that the temptation to eat on the run can be hard to resist. And, all that advertising—I like to call it “adver-lying”—convinces  you subliminally that eating this burger or drinking that soda pop will make you happy.
However, God seeks to enlighten you along the way. If you’re reading this, consider it a wake-up call to healthier living. Find a way to exercise every day. Clear all the junk food out of your pantry and restock with fresh fruits and vegetables, 100% whole grains, nuts and seeds, and a bit of lean meat. Kick the soda pop habit and begin drinking eight to 10 glasses of water every day instead. (Even the drive-through will give you a glass of ice water with your meal.) For an added boost on your weight loss journey, consider supplementing these tactics with It Works!’s Advanced Formula Fat Fighter with Carb Inhibitors™. Simply take Fat Fighter up to an hour after eating, and it will absorb some of the fat and carbohydrates from your food so that your body doesn't. Powered by a naturally based ingredient made from the "prickly pear" cactus, Advanced Formula Fat Fighter  can also help balance blood glucose levels to reduce cravings for sweets.
Move more. Eat real food. Love yourself as you are right now. Before you know it, you’ll be “Down on the Boardwalk” with a new song in your heart.
