The Drip/Duct Tape Method by Pam Sowder
A question I often get asked is, “What should I say when I am Blitzing?” What I’ve come to realize is that most of us will spew out way too much information. This can be a major turn-off! As you know, anyone and everyone is a potential prospect, but people don’t want to listen to someone “selling” them something. People will be much more responsive if you simply share your story with them! Tell them what YOU love about the products, and how they have changed your life. It Works has some pretty amazing and interesting products—most people will want to know more. Captivate people and get them to ask you questions. If you practice this, you will become a superstar blizter.
Drip: “Hi! I’m Pam and I am introducing a new product to (city name) and I would like to give you a coupon for it.” (Stop here! You are giving them a gift; it is up to them at this point if they will accept it or not.)
Duct Tape: Move back one step and allow them space and time to absorb what you just said. (Visualize Duct Tape across your mouth!) Stay silent. Let them look at the card. Remember, they have never heard of a product like this, so they need time to comprehend what you just told them!
Prospect: “What is it?”
Drip: Point to the before and after picture on the card along with the bullet points and say, “It is a product that tightens, tones, firms and detoxifies the body all in only 45 minutes. People are seeing great results, just like these.”
Duct Tape: Stop. Allow them to read the bullets and look at the picture. Don’t say the name of the product or even the name of the company yet. Keep it really simple. Allow the card to do the work for you! Always remember that you might be speaking to a potential distributor so if you use confusing words or talk too much you may lose them.
Prospect: “Really, does this work?”
Drip: Story time! Start telling, in simple language, what the products have done for you. Example: “I tried this product on my stomach and after the second application I went down a pant size.”
Duct Tape: Once again let them absorb what you just said. This also might be a great time to bring out your Brag Book. Pictures say so much more than words! Start leafing through your pictures and tell short stories about the photos. Keep it simple!
Drip: Turn the card over and say, “Oh and by the way, you can try this product today for only $20. Or, if you get 5 or 6 of your friends together to host what we call a “Wrap Party”, you can try it there for free. They’re tons of fun!”
Duct Tape: Remember, they have never heard of a Wrap Party, or a product like this. Once again, let them think about what you just said and absorb the information.
Prospect: “Can I try it right now?”
Drip: “Absolutely, let’s get started.” (Always be prepared to wrap on the spot!)
NOTE: Practice this method with your upline or friend. This works if you keep it simple and remember- Blitzing is supposed to be fun! Gather up a group and Blitz together! Remember, that you can always be a “stealth blizter” and just drops cards everywhere you go! (Public restrooms, coffee shops, waiting rooms, dressing rooms, bulletin boards, teacher’s boxes, etc.) No one has to know. Just Blitz!
Baby Blitzer: One of our distributors was at a check-out counter and her two year-old reaches into her handbag and pulls out a blitz card and hands it to the clerk. The clerk takes it and the blitz was done. Keep it simple!
